2017 TASH Conference has ended

Each year, the TASH Conference brings together a diverse community of stakeholders who gain information, learn about resources, and connect with others across the country to strengthen the disability field. This year’s conference theme, “Still We Rise for Equity, Opportunity, and Inclusion,” shows the resilience of individuals with disabilities and their families across the lifespan. Conference attendees will celebrate their passion for disability rights, civil rights, and human rights while exploring inclusive communities, schools, and workplaces that support people with disabilities, including those with complex support needs. Return to TASH website.

Director - Allegheny County YAP
Allegheny County, PA
I have directed services for Youth Advocate Programs and Adult Services since 2010. One of our services deals with serving adults with autism spectrum disorder, where we provide a variety of support services to help foster independence and sense of purpose. In addition to the support services, we have also developed a magazine that is exclusively written by adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder called: Pittverse Magazine. The magazine is quarterly and pays the writers for their contributions, creating a work-type environment. Additionally, I have recently completed a 2-year film documentary project titled, "The Rain Man Effect" which advocates for greater understanding of autism through education and training, particularly in the domain of employment.
